The Mouri carpet from Mazar-e-Sharif carries the Turkmen Gul tradition into larger format — and in this piece, the effect is total. A deep red field covered end to end with small, dense Gul motifs in near-black navy, each one slightly rounded, slightly different, repeated until the eye can no longer quite separate pattern from ground. It is a demanding visual experience in the best sense: the kind that rewards sustained attention rather than a glance.

Wool on cotton, hand-knotted at 110 knots per square inch in Mazar-e-Sharif — a city with its own weaving culture distinct from Herat, with a characteristic density that makes these carpets particularly suited to high-traffic spaces. This one will only get better.
