Landscape Prints
Varanasi from the river, drawn by someone who sat there long enough to get the steps right. A rock in the Ganges, a Himalayan valley in 1847, the castles of the Rhine, the ruins of Rome — places recorded back when a view took weeks to reach and a season to draw.
The Indian views overlap with the architecture and design prints, where the monuments come forward. A single view over a mantel, or a row of them up a stair.
